Frequently asked questions

Our activities include hiking, camping, backpacking, caving, climbing, running, cycling, trail maintenance, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, mountain biking, social events, and road trips!

In our Discord, locate the trip-forms channel, and find a trip you would like to go on. Click on the form, fill it out, and the trip leader will be in touch (usually within a week or so) to either offer you a spot on the trip or place you on the waitlist for that trip!

Perfect! We welcome beginners all the time and as long as you're curious and excited, we'll make sure that you'll learn the necessary skills. ​

Most trips will take between half a day to one full day on either Saturday or Sunday. Camping and other overnight trips will take multiple days.

Our fun (but optional) meetings are every Monday from 7-8pm during the spring and fall semesters. We share photos and stories from past trips, learn about the outdoors, socialize, and announce details of upcoming trips!

This can vary depending on the activity, time of year, and trip leader interest. On average, we have about 3-4 trips every weekend during the fall and spring semesters.

We carpool! If you don't have a car, don't worry, trip transportation will be provided to you via carpool. Usually the trip leader will organize a meet up spot and time for departure so that everyone is comfortable with their carpool arrangements before leaving.

The cost of trips will mostly be the (split) cost of gas to drive to your destination. If your trip requires the trip leader to buy food, you may be asked to contribute to that cost as well. Finally, if you borrow club gear, you have to pay a $15 gear fee that covers you for the entire semester, which is a pretty nice deal!

You are welcome to buy your own, but it is not necessary at all. We have a storage locker off campus that has all the gear you'll need for any trip, just make sure to let your trip leader know beforehand.

Absolutely! This club is only possible because of our student trip leaders. It’s easy to become a trip leader, and leading a trip guarantees you’ll get on that trip!

There's no time commitment required to join TTC. You're welcome to join the Discord and go on just one trip if that's all you have time for!

Join us on our Trail Maintenance Trips! You'll be spending your time bashing rocks and tearing up the ground. You can contribute to trails that'll stick it to Mother Nature for generations to come.

Just join our Discord or email list to be informed about upcoming trips! Attending meetings is encouraged but optional, and you don't need to pay the gear fee until you're accepted on a trip that uses TTC gear.
