About
We are a student led group that sponsors and leads outdoor activities. Our student trip leaders lead trips on a frequent basis with activities like hiking, camping, backpacking, climbing, caving, etc. We are open to all registered students, faculty, and alumni of the University of Maryland. All levels are welcome from novice to expert.

Mission
We aim to bring students and alumni together during outdoor activities to appreciate, learn, and have fun within the natural environment and we aim to provide a space for developing outdoor related skills at all levels.
Leave No Trace
As an outdoors club, it is in our best interest to protect the natural environment where we conduct our trips. We do this by following the 7 Leave No Trace (LNT) principles.

History
In the spring of 1937, student Eleanor Cooley founded the Terrapin Trail Club. The 1937–38 Terrapin yearbook wrote that the Terrapin Trail Club “left behind a well-blazed trail, not only on the landscape, but in the minds of those who have worked in order that the club might become a better known campus organization.” Indeed, our longstanding group dedicated to hiking, camping and other outdoor excursions remains one of the most well-known and active eco-minded student organizations in the university’s history.
